The Managing Director and
the Chief Executive Officer of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company
(KRPC), Engineer Bolanle Ayodele has re-assured residents of the company's host
community that engineers are working day and night to stop gas flaring in the
area.
Speaking while commissioning a
solar-powered borehole in Mahuta for residents of Janruwa and Kamazo, the KRPC boss
said, "Our engineers are working on daily basis to ensure that they stop
the gas flaring."
He added: "We hope to stop it
very soon so that we all have good air to breath. We're also going to
commission a filing station that will be providing kerosene to our host
communities at a cheaper rate. This will help bring an end to bush burning in
the area."
Engr. Ayodele, who was represented
by the Executive Director, Services, Alhaji Idi Muktar said that the borehole
has capacity to store 20,000 litres of water.
According to him, Kamazo residents
had spent years without electricity in their homes until KRPC came to their aid
adding that the borehole cost N6.3 million while the electricity line cost N5.6
million.
